My Story

A LOT LIKE YOU

a little different

I’m a woman, a mom, a professional, an immigrant, a Mexican, an American; I’m a lot like you.

I moved to the US over 20 years ago and struggled with my identity for the longest time.  I desperately tried to fit in, find my place in a different culture, a different town, work 60 hours a week, and find the right balance between being me and adapting to my new life without being assimilated.

As a mature new mom, post-partum depression and anxiety settled and made it even harder. Being depressed, working full time, and trying to raise a child without support can be lonely and challenging.

The more time passed, the more I withdrew. I was ashamed, ashamed of not instantly connecting with my child, ashamed of not having my act together, ashamed of not spending all my waking time at work as I did before.

The negative, constant talk was exhausting, and the anxiety of losing my child to unrealistic dangers was real for me. It didn’t help to work in a male-dominated field, I ended up believing I didn’t belong there and didn’t know what I was doing.

And then I found coaching and it changed my life. I learned how to manage my brain to stop the negative talk, that there is nothing wrong with me, I’m just a weird mix of cultures, and THAT is what makes me amazing. I don’t need to fit in.

The fear of failure is still there, but it doesn’t prevent me from living my life fully. On the contrary, I embrace it now, I know that if it feels scary, I’m growing.

I’m not longer looking to be happy. I’m looking to live fully and boldly, to take risks, to be uncomfortable and grow, to make a difference, to inspire.

I chose to be myself end embrace the possibilities. I would love to help you embrace life and all the possibilities that this could bring for you.
